Erica Berge – Proven Cecil County Leader for District 35B in 2026
I’m Erica Berge, a Cecil County resident running for Maryland House of Delegates District 35B. As a Republican, the wife of a disabled veteran, a mother of eight, and a lifelong servant of my community, I understand what Cecil County families need because I’ve lived it. My roots run deep in Cecil County, from growing up here to returning home after my husband’s military and government service, and I’m ready to bring our community’s voice to Annapolis.
My commitment to Cecil County goes beyond politics. My background includes years of nonprofit work strengthening Cecil County communities. I serve on local boards, collaborate with community leaders, and work every day to address the challenges facing our region. Now, as a candidate for District 35B, I’m ready to take that same servant leadership to Maryland’s House of Delegates.

Erica Berge’s Background: Cecil County Roots
I grew up in Cecil County, learning values that still guide me today. My parents taught me a generous definition of the word “neighbor”, one that extended far beyond our road to include anyone in need. Whether we knew them or not, if someone needed help, we helped. That lesson shapes how I approach community service and public leadership.
After my husband’s military and government service took us away, we chose to return home to Cecil County. This wasn’t just convenience, it was a deliberate choice to return home. We wanted to raise our children in a place with strong communities, good people, and authentic values. Cecil County isn’t just where I live; it’s home in the deepest sense of the word.
Erica Berge’s Commitment to Cecil County Service
My background includes years of nonprofit work strengthening Cecil County communities. Running a nonprofit supporting neighbors, small businesses, and community organizations taught me what matters most to Cecil County residents: affordable living, quality education, safe communities, economic opportunity, and responsive local government.
Serving on boards and steering committees across Cecil County has connected me directly to the challenges facing our region. From economic development to community services, education to public safety, these roles provide hands-on experience understanding what works, what doesn’t, and what Cecil County needs from state government.
Working with community leaders; county government, town officials, nonprofit directors, business owners, educators, law enforcement, faith leaders, and volunteers has provided me a comprehensive understanding of Cecil County’s strengths and challenges. The Cecil County Government and our towns work hard to serve residents, and this collaborative approach will continue when representing District 35B in Annapolis.
Erica Berge: Family Values Shape Public Service
As the wife of a disabled veteran, I understand military family sacrifices firsthand. The challenges that come with military service have shaped my commitment to supporting veterans, military families, and those who serve our nation. Cecil County is home to many veteran families who deserve a delegate who understands their needs.
Raising eight children teaches lessons no government position ever could. Budgeting, prioritizing, making tough choices, and planning for the future. Just like families around kitchen tables, state government needs to live within its means and focus on what matters most.
Being a mother deepens my commitment to education, child safety, and creating opportunities for the next generation. The decisions I make as your delegate will consider: How does this affect Cecil County children and families?
Erica Berge’s Vision for District 35B
District 35B is unique, it’s the only Maryland House of Delegates district comprised entirely of Cecil County communities. We’re one unified district with shared values and common interests.
This geographic reality matters because District 35B deserves a delegate who understands Cecil County, represents Cecil County values, and fights for Cecil County priorities in Annapolis. You can see the district boundaries on the District 35B map. When state government tries to impose solutions designed for urban and suburban areas on our rural county, we need to push back and clearly state our priorities.
“District 35B is uniquely and completely ours,” as Erica Berge often says. Our communities, our decisions, our future. State government should respect local authority, support our priorities, and recognize that Cecil County knows what Cecil County needs better than bureaucrats in Annapolis.
Erica Berge’s Conservative Principles for Cecil County
As a Republican, I will bring conservative principles to the campaign for District 35B:
Limited Government: Government should do essential functions well rather than trying to do everything. I support focusing state resources on core services: education, public safety, infrastructure, environmental protection, and respecting individual liberty and local control.
Fiscal Responsibility: Maryland families balance budgets; state government should too. I will champion fiscal responsibility, smart budgeting, and ensuring every taxpayer dollar delivers maximum value for Maryland families.
Local Control: Communities closest to issues understand them best. I will defend Cecil County’s right to make local decisions about zoning, development, schools, and community priorities without state interference.
Individual Liberty: Freedom and personal responsibility form America’s foundation. I support individual rights, parental authority, religious freedom, property rights, second amendment rights, and limited government intrusion in private lives.
Free Enterprise: Businesses and entrepreneurs drive economic growth. I support business-friendly policies, regulatory relief, and creating environments where Cecil County businesses can thrive.
Why Erica Berge is Running for District 35B
Too often, decisions impacting Cecil County are made in Annapolis without truly listening to people who live here. Erica Berge is running to ensure District 35B has a strong voice advocating for our communities, defending local control, and fighting for Cecil County values.
The issues facing Cecil County families; property taxes, school quality, public safety, infrastructure, and economic opportunity require a delegate who understands our community and puts us first. My Cecil County roots, lived experience, and community service provides that understanding.
This isn’t about political ambition; it’s about service. The same values that led me to nonprofit work, board service, and community involvement now compel me to run for District 35B. Our communities deserve better, and I’m ready to deliver.
