Reentry Simulation with the CARE Coalition – Understanding Challenges, Building Solutions

I volunteered at the CARE Coalition (Cecil Assisting REentry) Reentry Simulation, an eye-opening program designed to help participants understand the challenges individuals face when returning to the community after incarceration.

As a volunteer, I helped guide participants through scenarios that reflected the real-world barriers people encounter, such as finding housing, securing employment, managing transportation, and accessing basic needs while navigating complex systems. The experience underscored how difficult it can be to get back on track, even with the best intentions.

Programs like this matter because they highlight the importance of second chances, strong community partnerships, and practical support systems that reduce recidivism and help people succeed.

I am grateful to the CARE Coalition for hosting this event and for the opportunity to take part in their work to make reentry in Cecil County more effective, compassionate, and sustainable.
