I was excited to attend the Women to Watch 2025 Summer Speaker Series hosted by The Cecil Whig and their parent company, APG Chesapeake, at White Oak Manor in North East.
Sitting alongside a remarkable community of women, we listened to the wisdom of four dynamic leaders: Dr. Mary Way Bolt, President of Cecil College; Joyce Bowlsbey, retired W.L. Gore and former County Commissioner; Alicia Calhoun, Executive Director of the Elkton Alliance; and Sarah Colenda, Executive Director of the Principio Furnace Foundation, in a conversation moderated by Megan McCray, Director of Business Development at PuroClean. The panel shared how they practice mindfulness while balancing family, career, and service to others, and how that practice evolves through different seasons of life.
I’m grateful to connect with this network of women who support, challenge, and encourage one another. Thanks to them and to our hosts, APG Chesapeake and The Cecil Whig, I left even more committed to showing up with purpose in my community work and in representing Cecil County as Delegate for District 35B.
Note: I was honored to be featured in APG Chesapeake’s Women to Watch 2024 publication for my work in the nonprofit space. You can check it out here: https://issuu.com/apgchesapeake/docs/w2wupperchesapeake24
