I had the privilege of joining neighbors and local leaders in Port Deposit for the Bicentennial of Lafayette’s Farewell Tour. This event commemorated General Lafayette’s 1824–1825 visit to the United States, which included a stop right here in Cecil County.
The celebration highlighted Port Deposit’s role in our nation’s history and brought together community members, historians, and civic organizations. It was a powerful reminder that our towns are not only part of Cecil County’s story but part of America’s story.
Events like this inspire us to preserve our history while building a stronger future. I will continue to support opportunities that honor our heritage and bring people together to celebrate what makes Cecil County unique.
