I believe in the entire Constitution of the United States. Not just the parts that are politically convenient, not just the amendments that fit a particular narrative, but all of it. The Constitution is not a menu. It is the foundation of every right we have as Americans, and I will defend it fully in Annapolis.
Free Speech and the First Amendment
The First Amendment is one of the most important and most misunderstood rights we have. It protects citizens from government censorship. It ensures that our government cannot silence speech, restrict the press, prohibit religious practice, or prevent peaceful assembly and petition. Those protections are non-negotiable, and as your delegate I will stand firmly against any government overreach that threatens them.
I have been asked why I moderate my campaign social media pages. The answer is straightforward. The First Amendment protects citizens from government suppression of speech. It does not require a private individual to host every comment, bot, or bad-faith attack on their personal campaign page. Every major campaign, business, church, and community organization moderates its social media. Doing so is responsible page management, not censorship.
More importantly: I do not hide behind a screen. Anyone who wants to ask me a question directly is welcome to stop by campaign headquarters, find me at a community event, text me at 443-256-6911, or reach out through my website. I show up, I listen, and I answer. That is my open forum, and it is a better one than a comment section.
The Right to Keep and Bear Arms
I am a gun owner. I believe in the Second Amendment without qualification. The right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms is a constitutional right, and I will treat it like one in Annapolis.
In Cecil County, firearms are part of everyday life for hunters, farmers, veterans, and families who live on rural roads and want to protect themselves and the people they love. That does not need to be explained or justified to me. I understand it because I live it.
Maryland already has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. As your delegate, I will oppose any further erosion of Second Amendment rights and push back against legislation that burdens law-abiding gun owners without making anyone safer.
All of It
Beyond the First and Second Amendments, I believe in the full scope of constitutional protections: due process, equal protection, religious freedom, the right to privacy, protections against unreasonable search and seizure, and the principle that powers not granted to the federal or state government belong to the people and their local communities. Those are not abstract legal concepts. They are the practical guarantees that keep government in its proper place and people in theirs.
I grew up in a family where those values were lived, not recited. Where faith was practiced freely, where personal responsibility was expected, and where government was understood to be a servant of the people, not the other way around.
That is still what I believe. And it is exactly the kind of representation I will bring to Annapolis.
