I had the opportunity to attend the Cecil County Branch NAACP Juneteenth celebration, a day that honors the end of slavery in the United States and recognizes the ongoing work for justice and equality. The event brought together neighbors, families, and community leaders to celebrate freedom with music, food, and community spirit.
I was also glad to spend time with my friend and documentary maker Joe Piner, whose work continues to lift up stories that matter. Sharing the day with Joe and so many others made the celebration even more meaningful.
The day was uplifting and unifying. It was a reminder that Cecil County is at its best when we embrace our shared history and work together to create a stronger future for every person.
Thank you to the Cecil County Branch NAACP and all who participated for making this Juneteenth celebration both meaningful and memorable.
